Weekly / Monthly digest
The digest is the email summary that lands in your inbox on the cadence you chose in Settings → Notifications. It pulls progress, plans, pending reading, a self-evaluation nudge if you're overdue, and any platform announcements into a single short email — no clicking around required.
TL;DR — Weekly by default; switchable to Monthly or Off. Empty digests (nothing to report) are intentionally skipped so the email always has substance when it shows up.
What's in it
Each section appears only if there's something to say — empty sections are hidden.
- Progress — your goal hit-rate over the window (last 7 or 30 days). Pulled from
GoalProgressrows the period-closer wrote. - Active goals — count + breakdown by cadence (Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly / Yearly). Quick link back to
/goals. - Reading — still pending — the top 2 articles and top 2 videos you've added but haven't finished (status = Reading or Want to Read), most recently touched first. Each item links to the source URL when you saved one.
- Self-evaluation overdue — a single nudge if you haven't completed a self-eval in the last 90 days. Honest scoring keeps the radar useful.
- From WaypointCareer — any platform-wide announcements the team has published (new features, scheduled maintenance, etc.). Same content the in-app banner shows.
The unsubscribe footer is on every digest (RFC 8058 one-click), and a link to /settings?tab=notifications lets you change frequency without leaving your mail client.
When it sends
The scheduler runs the digest pass once a day. It picks up your account when your lastNewsletterSentAt is older than your cadence window (7 days for Weekly, 30 days for Monthly). If the assembled payload for you would be empty — no progress, no pending reading, no announcements, no self-eval prompt — the digest is skipped and the watermark is still bumped so the same empty payload isn't reconsidered every day.
