Cadence Tracking (on Insights)

Cadence tracking lives on the Insights page (/insights) — you don't track minutes, you track whether the week's commitments shipped. The recommended rhythms adjust to your career status, and logging an activity marks the matching cadence as progressed for the week.

TL;DR — Open Insights, glance at your This week panel and cadence rings, hit + Log activity (or a ring's Log) to record what you did, and check Recent activity for what you've logged. Use Goals when you want explicit numeric targets.

Note: This section was previously a standalone Daily Plan page in the sidebar. That page has been retired — the cadence tracking functionality now lives directly on the Insights page and /daily-plan redirects to /insights.

The cadence section of Insights is one view, top to bottom:

  • This week — cadences hit (X/Y), active days (X/7), and when you last logged. The headline is how many of your recommended cadences you've touched this calendar week (Sun–Sat).
  • This week's cadences — a progress ring per recommended rhythm for your status. Each ring fills as you log that activity; a gentle "behind" cue appears only when a cadence is genuinely late in the week.
  • Recent activity — a compact feed of your latest entries. Hit View all to expand the full table (filters default to the last 7 days) with AI summaries, content, and delete.
  • Your goals — a slim, read-only strip of your most-urgent active goals, linking to the Goals page. Hidden when you have no active goals.

It's tier-aware: the recommended cadences (and how many rings you see) adjust based on your career status (Settings → Profile).

What changed in 05JUN2026. The two tabs ("This week" / "Log activity") are gone — it's one page now. Logging happens in a modal you open from + Log activity or any ring's Log, so you never leave your place. The consecutive-day streak was retired in favour of calmer signals (cadences hit, active days, last logged).

Quick start

  1. Open Insights from the sidebar
  2. Read your This week panel — cadences hit, active days, last logged
  3. Scan the cadence rings for your status; a ring shows progress toward this week's rhythm
  4. Click + Log activity (top-right) or a ring's Log to open the log form — picking a ring pre-fills that activity type
  5. Save — the modal closes and your rings, this-week panel, and recent feed update in place

Logging an activity

Open the log modal from + Log activity or any ring's Log:

  1. Pick a date — defaults to today; backdate as needed
  2. Pick an activity type — Search, Skills, Interview prep, Networking, Search firms, or Other (pre-filled when you opened from a ring)
  3. Optionally pick a subtype (e.g. "video", "article", "1:1 meeting") — the list adapts to the chosen type
  4. Optionally link a contact (Networking) or a firm (Search firms) — linking updates that record's "last-contacted" date
  5. Optionally paste a Source URL, Title, and Content — the Content field accepts up to 100k characters, and after saving you can click Summarize with AI on the entry to digest it
  6. Optional Notes for free-form context

Saved entries appear in Recent activity. There's no duration field — the question is whether you did it, not how long it took.

Cadences — where they come from

Cadences are recommended based on your career status in Settings:

| Career status | Headline | Examples of cadences | |---|---|---| | Unemployed | Treat the search like a full-time job | 4–6 applications / day · 5+ outreach / day · 2 search firms / week | | Actively looking (employed) | Steady pressure without burnout | 1–2 quality applications / week · 2–3 networking touches / day · weekly interview-readiness rotation | | Passively open (employed) | Stay visible, stay ready | Daily glance at postings · 1 contact / day | | Market awareness only | Know the market, on your terms | Weekly market read · 1 article / week |

Override a cadence with a Goal if you want a specific number — goals are the place to define explicit targets and tracking.

Reading the rings

Each ring fills toward this week's rhythm. Daily cadences fill across the 7 days of the week (one credit per active day); weekly cadences fill toward their weekly count. A ring reads when the cadence is hit. A muted behind cue appears only when a cadence is genuinely late — a daily cadence still at zero by midweek, or a weekly one not hit by Friday — never early in the week.

Tips

  • Touched beats perfect. A single Networking entry mid-week moves that ring forward even if it was a short message.
  • Backdate the same day you missed, not a week later. Backdating from memory is unreliable.
  • Use Goals for counts. Cadence tracking on Insights tracks cadence; Goals tracks numbers (3 applications/week, 1 reading note/week, etc.). Both feed the Career Growth report.
